There is coal, and then there is Real Coal!
No scenic scatter can match the unique light-reflective properties of multi-faceted lumps of real coal. The only way to recreate it in model form is by using real coal, crushed to a suitably fine grade for model use.
Peco now offer three grades of real coal, crushed and sieved, ideal for finishing wagon loads, steam locomotive bunkers and as scenic highlights in goods coal depots and locomotive sheds.
Useful for any scale from N to O, as coal was screened, sorting the lumps into a range of consistent sizes before being loaded into wagons. Each wagon would therefore normally contained coal lumps of a quite uniform size.
