This book is an attempt to recreate in full colour the many colour schemes and livery variations that were to be seen on the Leeds horse buses, horse trams, steam trams, electric trams, trolleybuses and motor buses in the period from 1880 to 1952 before colour films were widely available. It is believed that this is the first time that this has been done for any city, certainly in the United Kingdom. It is intended for future modellers, vehicle restorers and replica builders to help them obtain the correct colours of former Leeds transport vehicles before the information is lost and is an important reference work. Many of the buildings shown have long disappeared and the general reader will see that Leeds in the late 19th and early 20th century was a colourful and interesting place to live. Many of the photographs have not been previously published and all are copied from original black and white photographs or postcards and then digitally coloured. The colouring has been done by Jim Soper, assisted by his daughter and granddaughter. It was a very time consuming process over the last two years or so with many failures before a satisfactory result was achieved. The book was published on 29th July 2017. It is available in both softcover and hardcover editions. A4 format 68 pages on 150g gloss paper. 129 re coloured images with extensive captions and 4 monochrome reproductions of original images.
